NDY Gig/ Fund-Raiser This Friday!
About four years ago I and the other three guys in my small group decided to dust off our old and rarely used instruments and have a little jam session in my basement. We had so much fun we decided to do it again…and again…and again. We’ve evolved into one of the most sought after rock and roll bands in the history of the universe and beyond. Also one of the most self-deluded. Given our age and rather mediocre achievements in life, a certain amount of ego-boosting self-grandeur is a welcomed friend, but at least we’re NOT DEAD YET. In fact, we’re “happy, happy, HAPPY!”
Anyway, you may have heard that our friend Bono hurt his back, which means we no longer have our summer booked as his opening gig. So we decided to take advantage of our newly freed-up schedule and do yet another fund raiser for Providence Ministries, supporting kids in Haiti. It will be at the Dugout in Mahtomedi this Friday, June 18, from 8:30 to 12:30. (There’s a $10 cover that will go to Providence.) For those millions of fans who have heard us several times before, you might be interested to know that we’ve added some more contemporary tunes to our repertoire such as “Smooth” (Santana), “I Want to Get Away” (Lenny Kravitz) and “Use Somebody” (Kings of Leon).
Also, hard as it is to believe, we’ve gotten even better looking! Check us out:
Here’s Manuel burning up the Congas while being thankful he doesn’t live in Arizona (his own joke)
and Greg E. ripping a guitar lead (which is much more pleasant than other things he occasionally rips)
and Stevie (the) Wonder tinkling the ivories for his thousands of adoring fans
and Dave making up lyrics on the spot because he of course can’t remember the original ones
and Alex Mr. Bass Man searching for a note, or at least a close approximation
and last but certainly also the least, here’s uber-cool me trying to find the ever-elusive down beat
Also, we’ll have newly designed NDY World Tour T-Shirts available and for just this one night, our friend Bono says all drinks are on him (assuming, of course, his back is better and he shows up. Otherwise, you’re on your own). Our friends who run the Dugout are opening the patio for this event will have an outside grill going so come hungry!
Come support some cool kids in Haiti, have a great time, and dance to the world famous NOT DEAD YET!!!!
Greg
