Honesty, However Ugly

For last week’s sermon at Woodland Hills Church, Greg spoke about the importance of being honest with God about our struggles and doubts. This is part of what it means to be in a genuine relationship with God, and the Bible is full of characters who demonstrate this for us. Is it difficult for you to be raw and honest with the Lord? Take heart. He welcomes you exactly where you’re at.

You can download video and audio files of the sermon here.

Are You a Church Misfit?

Romain Guy via Compfight Here’s a lovely reflection from Rachel Held Evans on the experience of finding that your questions are unwelcome in church. Sermon: The Pygmy Way

Last weekend Greg preached about the history of Woodland Hills Church as a part of the church’s 20th anniversary. It’s a pretty fun walk down memory lane as well as a challenge to follow the “pygmy way” even when it looks silly. If you’d like to download the sermon you can find it here.

Beyond Theoretical Salvation

Profession of Christ’s lordship in our lives isn’t a magical formula. It’s more than a theory about how we can get saved if we confess the right doctrines. The confession has meaning only when it’s understood to be a genuine pledge to surrender one’s life to Christ. (See yesterday’s post.) But I want us to…

What Is an Idol?

We all believe lies about God that have caused us to mistrust him and therefore to look elsewhere for life. This is what an idol is. It’s anything we try to use to fill what only God can fill. God never intended anyone or anything other than Jesus Christ to meet our core need for…
