Four Blood Moons—What’s the Significance?

The first of four successive “blood moons” will occur on April 15 & 16. Is this significant? Does it point to coming earth-shattering events specifically related to Israel? Many authors like John Hagee believe it does.

Or is this misguided divination and astrology? What do you think Greg’s take is?

Paul Was Not Writing about Personal Salvation: Romans 9, Part 2

In yesterday’s post, I summarized the deterministic interpretation of Romans 9 and offered the first argument against it. In this post I offer the second and third of six arguments that reveal that there is something else going on in Romans 9. Argument #2: Has God Broken Covenant? Revelation 17:8 refers to people whose names haven’t been written in “the book of life from the creation of the world.” Doesn’t this conflict with open theism?

As in Revelation 13:8, the clause “from the foundation” (apo kataboleis) need not mean “from before the foundation” but simply “from the foundation” (= since the foundation). It’s not that names either were or were not written in the “book of life” before they were ever born. Rather, throughout history, in response to the choices…

A Distinctly Christian Take on the Israel-Palestine Conflict

David Masters via Compfight Here is a great essay, written by a young kingdom revolutionary I’m just getting to know, Jonathan Martin.  Jonathan addresses the hot topic of the Israel-Palestine conflict with biblical insight, theological depth, and a heart that reflects a knowledge and love for the people he’s talking about. My favorite quote: “The…

Is God Trying to Tell Us Something Through Blood Moons?

This week we experienced the second of a series of four “blood moons.” If you’ve read John Hagee’s book Four Blood Moons: Something Is About To Change, you might be inclined to believe that God is sending us a message through these heavenly events. Greg begs to differ. Here’s a clip from a sermon he preached around…

What is the right way to interpret Revelation?

Few biblical topics have captured the imagination of contemporary evangelicals like the book of Revelation. The recent unprecedented success of the Left Behind series is evidence of this popular fascination. Many evangelicals don’t realize that the futuristic interpretation of Revelation advocated in this popular series is only one of several interpretations evangelicals espouse. Here’s the…

Jesus’ Different Kind of Nation

God called Abraham to form a unique nation by which “all peoples of the earth will be blessed.” The unique call of the descendants of Abraham was to become a nation of servant-priests whom God would use to reunite the nations of the world under his loving Lordship. The vision of a reunited humanity is…
