Ralph D. Winter Lectureship

logoGreg has been invited to give this year’s lectures for “The Ralph D. Winter Lectureship,” this April 25 and 26. Greg’s lectures will be on the Biblical Warfare Worldview and its implications for understanding evil, especially “natural” evil and for our understanding of the Christian Life and missions. Greg will also join a panel of experts from a variety of different fields to discuss the implications of the Warfare Worldview.

Greg is excited to participate in this Lectureship because over the last decade of his life, Ralph Winter, who was known as one of the world’s foremost authorities on missions, dedicated himself to exploring the implications of the Warfare Worldview for a missional understanding of fighting diseases, and this continues to be a central focus of this institute. The event is open to the public. For more information, go to their event page.

The (Spiritual) War on Terror

The Open View of the future recognizes the vast influence of all the angelic and human wills God created, which, in turn, influences the various outcomes and circumstances in life. Therefore life is arbitrary because of the way the decisions made by an unfathomably vast multitude of free agents intersect with each other. How life…

What are the main principles of the warfare worldview?

In my book God At War (IVP, 1997) I flesh out what I call the “warfare worldview” of the Bible. This is the view that the world is a battle ground between God and good angels, on the one hand, and Satan and fallen angels, on the other. In my book Satan and the Problem…

Kingdom Revolution

To properly understand an action, you need to interpret it in the light of the social context in which it takes place. For example, if we were to hear about a white male offering his seat at the front of a bus to an African American woman, we would probably interpret this as a nice…

The Warfare We Have Inherited

Image by Chris Sardegna Jesus’ miracles over nature, as well as his healings, exorcisms and especially his resurrection, were definite acts of war that accomplished and demonstrated his victory over Satan. These acts routed demonic forces and thereby established the kingdom of God in people’s lives and in nature. But their primary significance was eschatological. People…
