Last Minute Preparations

OPEN_2013_Header1We’re all busy here at ReKnew making last minute preparations for the Open2013 conference here in St. Paul, MN. It’s our first ever event of this kind and there’s a nervous energy and anticipation. I wonder if you’ll hold this up in prayer if you weren’t able to join us? We have a last minute speaker that we’ve added to the agenda. Jessica Kelley, mother of precious Henry, will be presenting tomorrow morning. It would be lovely if you could especially pray for her, as she’ll be sharing some very personal things from her experience of losing her little boy and the journey she’s been on.

This conference is going to be very different from other Open Theism gatherings in the past. It’s going to involve a lot of collaboration and dreaming and asking good questions of one another. We hope it will result in some energy and direction for the body of Christ. We hope it will bring the Kingdom of God a little closer to this earth. We wish every one of you could have made the trip to be here with us, but you can still participate in a few ways.

  1. You can follow the hashtag #Open_2013 to participate in the conversations we’ll be having.
  2. You can talk with the people in your life about the beautiful God we find in Jesus, and the dignity he has bestowed on us as partners in bringing his Kingdom to our world.
  3. You can pray for us.

Blessings to you all from the Greg and the ReKnew team.

What Does God Look Like?

Thomas Hawk via Compfight Our good friend Jessica Kelley wrote this blog featuring sermons from Mark Moore about what God is really like. It’s a timely piece since Jessica is going to be preaching at Woodland Hills Church this weekend, and Mark Moore is attending the upcoming ReKnew conference and will be hosting a get-together with…

Rethinking Our View of Faith

The second conviction of the “ReKnew Manifesto” is that we need to rethink what it means to have faith. It’s my impression that many, if not most, Evangelical Christians associate their assurance that they’re “saved” with their confidence that they believe correct doctrines. This is why many, if not most, think that heretics who believe…

The God Who Over-Knows The Future

God perfectly knows from all time what will be, what would be, and what may be. He sovereignly sets parameters for all three categories. His knowledge of what might occur leaves him no less prepared for the future than his knowledge of determined aspects of creation. Because he is infinitely intelligent, he does not need…

When Prayers Go Unanswered

Recently Frank Viola published a free e-book where 21 Christian leaders responded to the following question: Why is it that God doesn’t often answer the desperate prayers of His people for deliverance, protection, healing, etc.? You can download the free ebook by clicking here. The following excerpt is Greg’s contribution to this book: _____________________ Two very ill children are…

Free Will: Are studies that demonstrate genetic determinism a threat to free will?

Greg shares his continuing thoughts on free will with a thought experiment (and a hand-drawn graph!) granting that we are largely determined by forces outside of our control. If we grant this presupposition, does that mean that free will is an illusion or insignificant? Find out!
