Still Forming

Audire_Banner_Still_FormingHi Everyone,

The Open Theism conference was a huge blessing for us. We’ll be talking more about that in the coming days and giving you information on how to access video of some of the speakers. But today we wanted to share something about spiritual formation and a very old way of reading the Bible in a deeper way.

Christianne Squires writes a blog called Still Forming that is designed to help you deepen your walk with God. Every Sunday she also sends out a letter called A Cup of Sunday Quiet where she includes links to the previous week’s posts as well as a Lectio Divina meditation. (You can subscribe to this letter via her blog.) Lectio Divina is a practice that involves reading a portion of scripture a number of times very slowly to allow the Spirit to speak to you in particular ways. Today, we invite you to practice this way of praying and reading scripture with Christianne. You can find the audio meditation here. We hope it blesses you!

Part 4: An Alternative Cross-Centered Approach

Image by Karl Pang via Flickr As I mentioned in Part II of this review, I am deeply appreciative of the fact that Flood grasps the centrality of enemy-loving non-violence in Jesus’ revelation of God. And while many, if not most, of the depictions of Yahweh in the Old Testament are consistent with this revelation, I…

Your Prayers Matter

My conviction is that many Christians do not pray as passionately as they could because they don’t see how it could make any significant difference. They pray, but they often do so out of sheer obligation and without the sense of urgency that Scripture consistently attaches to prayer. The problem, I believe, is that many…

Mark Moore is a man who has changed his mind about a lot of things which is somewhat extraordinary these days. Change can be costly and painful and this was certainly true for Mark. He previously pastored Providence Community Church in Plano, TX, where he pastored for eleven years based upon a set of theological assumptions…
