Prototype

Micah J. Murray wrote the funnest illustrated book review of Jonathan Martin’s book Prototype, so we just had to feature it here. That’s his photoshopped pic of Jonathan as well, which is pretty much worth the price of admission. Jonathan is a dear friend of ReKnew and he’s a voice worth listening to.

From Micah’s review:

Really, Prototype is like a sermon.

Not a boring, doodle-on-the-bulletin, fall-asleep-in-church sermon. It’s the kind of sermon where it feels like he’s preaching straight to your heart, weaving stories and truth together seamlessly. The kind of sermon where you lose track of time.

The End and Beginning of Faith

Eduardo Amorim via Compfight Micah J. Murray shared the story of how his doubts and loss of faith led him to a truer, deeper faith. While we fear the doubts that sometimes sneak in, sometimes those doubts lead us to a place of goodness. Be not afraid. From Micah’s story: Eventually I gave up on…

The Politics of Demonization

Jonathan Martin posted a blog this week that we wanted to share called the politics of demonization (demonic talk on immigration, & other things). Have you noticed the hateful ways that we characterize the “other” in public discourse? Jonathan suspects (and we agree) that there’s a powerful force driving this tendency in all of us. As he puts it…

A Brief Theology of Salvation

In the NT, one of the most frequent and fundamental images used to depict our salvation is “redemption.” The root of this term lytron means a “ransom” or “price of release,” and the term itself (apolytrosis) was used as a kind of technical term for the purchase of a slave. If we apply this to…

Arbitrary Election

Micah J. Murray wrote a blog entitled Five Reasons I Reject Unconditional Election, which was a response to John Piper’s recent arguments for embracing unconditional election. If you’re looking for Scripture-based argumentation, you would do well to look elsewhere (as Micah freely suggests) but if you’re looking for the deep down, intuitive and honest gut stuff,…
