An Update and an Opportunity

Temptation

Thomas Hawk via Compfight

All around the globe we are witnessing more and more people catching the vision of a God and a kingdom that look like the crucified Christ. One of the goals of ReKnew is to help form this rising revolution into an identifiable movement by working with others to help raise up future leaders and by helping those who by have caught this vision network together. This is why I have over the last year dedicated several hours a week to connect with others who share this vision and why, in some cases, I’ve developed a mentoring relationship with young revolutionaries in whom I see leadership potential. It’s also why I, Mark Moore and Paul Eddy are holding a networking huddle for young people with leadership potential at Woodland Hills Church on Saturday, September 28th. If you’re interested in attending, click here.

One of the people I’ve been delighted to connect has been Frank Viola. From his writings I discerned that Frank was a man with prophetic insight who clearly shares this vision of God and his kingdom and who clearly sees the radical transformation that is beginning to take place in the Church. And now that I’ve gotten to know him personally, I have come to love his passion to help the Church become the radiant bride of Christ she is called to be as well as his irenic spirit. He is one of those all-to-rare people with whom you can have fun debating theology!  (Some of you might recalled our tongue-in-cheek trash talk over open theism earlier in the summer. (I still hope to slaughter him on this topic at some point in the future!)

I’m sharing this with you not only to keep you informed on some of the exciting stuff ReKnew is doing, but to also tell you about a Discipleship Course that Frank is making available to people. It’s an audio series entitled Living by the Indwelling Life of Christ. I’ve listened to enough of this course to tell you that Frank presents a beautiful and compelling vision of what it means to live in Christ while insightfully addressing one of the most significant challenges that confronts contemporary disciples: namely, the challenge of learning how to grow in Christ, not by relying on our own self-effort, but by yielding to the life of Christ within us while growing in the truth of who we already are in him. And it’s a course that is as practically orientated as it is theological informative. Judging from everything I’ve heard about it, people have found this course to be incredibly powerful, and in some cases, absolutely life-changing!

Frank is offering an early-bird reduced rate for this course up until October 1st, but if you register by September 23, he’s offering a free eBook along with the course as well (Epic Jesus). You can find out more and/or register for this course here.

Whether you decide to sign up for this course or not, I encourage you to live each moment of this day with the awareness that at every moment, Christ dwells in you, and you dwell in Christ. That, my friends, makes all the difference!

Viva la Revolution!

Responding to Critics of a Pacifist View of the Syrian Crisis-Part 2

United Nations Photo via Compfight Yesterday I posted a response to Tyler Tully’s criticism of some of my thoughts on the Syrian crisis. The second blog I’d like to review is  Two Friars and a Fool by Aric Clark. Like Tully, Aric approved of much of what I said, but also like Tully, he raised several…

Kingdom Revolution

To properly understand an action, you need to interpret it in the light of the social context in which it takes place. For example, if we were to hear about a white male offering his seat at the front of a bus to an African American woman, we would probably interpret this as a nice…

Thinking Theologically

In a previous post, I challenged the common notion that the Scripture is the foundation or the center of our faith. Instead, it’s my conviction that the only place to begin is Jesus Christ. Paul says that Jesus Christ is the foundation” (1 Cor 3:11). And Peter proclaimed that Jesus is the “cornerstone” that “the…

End of Year Reflection

As we approach the end of this year, I’d like to take a moment to personally thank all of you who are invested in ReKnew. Honestly, your prayers, your words of encouragement, and your financial support mean the world to me and to the entire ReKnew team. It has been a truly exciting year. I…

The Kingdom of God ≠ Political Activism

Given the centrality of following Jesus’ example, it is vitally important we not only notice that Jesus was a revolutionary (see post) along with some ways that we can join his revolution (see that post here), but how he was a revolutionary. Many Christians today assume that in order to revolt against ungodly aspects of…
